Installation of UKC Tuzla's first PET/CT scanner enters final stage

The scanner has been delivered while facilities and staff are being prepared for a new diagnostic service of particular importance in oncology.

University Clinical Centre Tuzla announced on 25 September 2026 that its first PET/CT scanner had been delivered. Before installation, work began to adapt the Nuclear Medicine Department's facilities and train staff.

PET/CT combines anatomical information from computed tomography with metabolic information from positron emission tomography. Subject to clinical indications, it is used particularly in oncology to assess disease extent, detect metastatic lesions and monitor response to treatment.

The institution expects the service to reduce the need for patients from Tuzla Canton to travel to other centres. Delivery does not yet mean that examinations are available; service launch, referral arrangements and appointments should be confirmed directly with UKC Tuzla.
